More than 150 requests of participation reached RISIS Data Science Winter School Secretariat during this very successful edition. Only 25 participants coming from various countries were admitted to join the courses that will be organized for the first time after the pandemic emergency physically in Rome.
Providing the essential tools for a correct application of some popular Network Science, Spatial Models and Machine Learning methods in various STI contexts. This is the main purpose of RISIS Data Science Winter School organized by CNR-IRCrES planned from 20th to 24th of February 2023. The participants will be hosted in Rome for 5 intense days of training. The lessons will be organized at the CNR-IRCrES headquarters, via dei Taurini 18, in Rome.
The training will provide participants with the essential tools for a correct application of some popular NS, ML and SM methods in various STI contexts. In particular ML techniques proves useful for factor importance detection, as well as for classification purposes in a model-free stance. Moreover, NS and SM techniques are useful to identify and study structure and dynamics of large and complex STI communities.
The course foresees three modules (one on NS, one on ML, and one on SM) with the aim of balancing theory and applications. Participants will run some exercises assigned by the instructor under his supervision. Target audience for this course are researchers in research policy, higher education, and innovation studies with a quantitative orientation, who aim to extend their competence on NS, ML and SM analysis. The course is free of charge for European participants and part of RISIS Training activities.
