FOSSR-RISIS Data Science Winter School on Tools and methods for analysing complex Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) systems

The FOSSR-RISIS Data Science Winter School on Tools and methods for analysing complex Science is organized by the Research Institute of Sustainable Economic Growth (CNR-IRCrES) in the framework of the NRRP project FOSSR (Fostering Open Science in Social Science Research) and will take place ONLINE from 24th to 27th of February 2025.

Course main objectives:
The training will provide participants with the essential tools for a correct application of some popular methods such as Network Science (NS), Bayesian Networks (BN), Machine Learning (ML) and Spatial Model (SM) in various STI contexts.
The course foresees four modules (one on NS, one on BN, one on ML, and one on SM) with the aim of balancing theory and applications.
Target audience:
Target audience for this course are researchers in research policy, higher education, and innovation studies with a quantitative orientation, who aim to extend their competence on NS, BN, ML and SM analysis. Basic requisites for admission will be:
- Knowledge on basic principles of statistics;
- Interest in STI studies.
The course is addressed but is not limited to, early-career researchers, researchers aspiring to advance their careers, technicians, data stewards, and data managers.
