Indicators – Actors

The integrative dimensions actors considers that the dynamics of knowledge production are highly dependent on the presence of involved collective actors and provides their identification and characterization.

Three types of collective actors are be covered by the tool:

• Public-sector research organizations

• Firms

• Social Innovation Actors (soon available)

They differ in terms of their function, structure, and data sources. They are largely treated together with regard to their variables and data structures. RISIS-KNOWMAK allows for some level of customization, taking into account their specificities.

The tool includes a standardized list of key actors harmonized across data sources and with the RISIS register for public organizations (OrgReg) and firms (FirmReg). These actors provide users with further details on knowledge co-creation, like identifying the core actors by region or topic, and the importance of different types of actors for each indicator.
